"Troy High School's football team used a strong ground game and its defense shut out Irvine in the second half as the Warriors defeated the Vaqueros 29-14 in a non-league game Friday night at Irvine Stadium.
On the ensuing possession, Irvine moved the ball to the Troy 30-yard line but a costly fumble was picked up by defensive back Anthony Santoro, who rumbled 70 yards for a Warriors touchdown, giving Troy a 22-0 lead. Santoro added an interception in the second half that halted a Vaqueros drive."

No. 24 Troy 29, Irvine 14: Fischer Huss ran for 140 yards on 23 carries with a touchdown to lead Troy to a win over Irvine.
Troy (3-0) took a 15-0 lead in the first quarter after a 20-yard touchdown run by Kieran Klingsberg and a 1-yard run by Huss.
Anthony Santoro recovered a fumble for Troy in the second quarter and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 22.
Irvine (1-2) scored twice in one minute to cut the Troy lead to 22-14. Kendyn Beaver had a rushing touchdown and Ian Hew returned an interception for a touchdown.
Ryan Maturo threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Klingsberg in the second half to extend Troy’s lead to 29-14.

Troy 49, Anaheim 0: Troy scored 42 points in the first half in a rout of Anaheim at Fullerton High.
Running back Kieran Klingsberg scored twice in the first quarter and Fischer Huss added a touchdown in the frame for Troy (2-0). Huss had 57 yards on four carries and Klingsberg had 47 yards on two carries.
Quarterback Ryan Maturo completed all three of his pass attempts for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Maturo threw a swing pass to Klingsberg who ran 86 yards for a touchdown. Anthony Santoro caught a 43-yard touchdown pass.
Troy will play at Irvine on Friday, Sep. 2.
